The growth onthis is now massive and I have had to start to trim it up

Its begining to take over. There are quite a few pumpkins on it so I now have to cut these back to 3.

The first few pumpkins that set shrivelled up but the others are growing nicely. Feed regularly with a home concockted liquid feed (organic of course) to maintain the growth rate

Is this one a winner?

Time to do a little bit of an update as the cat is now out of the bag. Two other competitors decended on me today and saw how my pumpkin was doing even though I do say so myself its going quite well. So there is no harm posting this now

The plant is about 25 ft outside the door so I am about to trim out the growing tip to see if I can get the pumpkins bigger

Even from a distance its huge

one thing I missed I didnt train the young pumkin to sit at 90 degrees to the stem. If I had of done I might have avoided this

lets hope it hangs on

There was a lot of excitement at the weigh in with a few of the professional growers reputation at stake.
1st prize was me at Creekwell farm with an impressive Pumpkin weighing 10st 4 oz
2nd prize was Andrew Robb of Robbs Trees with a good effort at 7st 12oz
3rd was Paul Allen with another fine example at 7st 7 oz

Just to put this in to perspective the UK record is 104 st or 660 Kg held by Ian and Stuart Patten

Well we will run the competition next year so if you want to take part register your entry here. or email me at pumpkin@roomforaview.com and I will send you full details
